iTunes and iPods

Is iTunes installed on the APN Public PCs?

Yes.

What version of iTunes is installed on the APN Public PCs?

iTunes v8.1 is installed

(You can check the version by using the iTunes menu, Help, About iTunes.)

I have plugged my iPod into the APN Public PC but iTunes needs to be upgraded before I can access my device

- when will iTunes be upgraded?

As at June 2009:  iTunes version 8.2 is required to sync with iPod / iPhone OS v3.  There is no date yet to upgrade APN public PCs to this version - so iPod/iPhone v3 OS devices will not be able to connect to the APN Public PCs for the time being.

I have plugged my iPod into an APN Public PC but the files on my iPod are grey'ed out, why?

Firstly - be very careful when you plug your iPod into another computer you could delete every file, mp3, etc on your iPod if you do not read and understand the iTunes messages.

Sync'ing - iTunes on the APN Public PCs is configured not to automatically sync with iPods - otherwise the files on your iPod could be automatically deleted.

To access mp3s etc on you iPod try this

- iTunes

- Devices

- click on you iPod

- General Tab

- Options

- Tick "Manually manage music and video"

- Click on another folder eg Music

- You should now be prompted "you have changed settings ... would you like to apply these changes?"

NOTE if you are at any stage warned that the iPod's library is about to be replaced DO NOT APPLY CHANGES

- Click APPLY
