Scanning - Tiff file format
Can I scan to Tiff?
The APN Scanner supports TIFF and Multipage TIFF file format. However - many systems may not be able to handle this particular version of a TIFF file and the APN recommends you use JPG or PDF instead when scanning items using the APN flatbed scanner.
For example the APN Public PCs can not view or edit APN scanned TIFF files in Paint.Net, Windows Fax and Picture Viewer or Gimp v2. It has also been reported that the APN scanned TIFF files can not be opened in Photoshop (note Photoshop is not installed on the APN Public PCs).
Is there a work-around to view or edit APN Scanner created TIFF files?
Yes. On an APN Public PC you can use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to open the File. You can then
Yes. On your own PC try using Irfanview.
What about my multi-page TIFF? If you have created a multiplage TIFF using the APN Scanner you may have trouble viewing and or editing it in Microsoft Office Picture Manager - this application may only display the first page.
The APN recommends you either re-scan the file as a JPG or PDF (if this is an option).
Irfanview can open and edit APN Scanner created multipage TIFF files. Irfanview is a free application but at present is NOT installed on the APN Public PCs.
When should I use TIFF file format when using the APN scanner? When you wish to OCR the scanned document, see OCR
