Can I use my own headphones or headset?

You can use your own headphones or headsets: they can be plugged into the headphone ports at the front of the pc.

Are the headsets hygenic?

If you would prefer not to use the headsets you have a couple of options

1/ bring your own headsets and plug them into the front of the PC

2/ get permission from library staff to remove the headset plug at the back of the PC and listen via the PCs internal speakers.

I can't hear anything when using the headset, what should I do?

• Check the volume control dial located on the headset cable
• Check the volume control in the system tray of the PC (looks like a little grey speaker)
• Check the headset is plugged in at the back of the PC

  note:  pink plug connects to blue socket at back of PC (microphone)

  note:  orange plug connects to green socket at back of PC (headphones)

• Test using a different headset or test using a different PC, perhaps the headset is faulty

The person I am talking to using the microphone on the headset can't hear me, what should I check?

• Check the the microphone button located on the headset cable is set to ON
• Check the volume control dial located on the headset cable
• Test using a different headset or test using a different PC, perhaps the headset is faulty
• You should also get the person who can't hear you to check the volume controls at their end too
