CDBurnerXP

  • CD Burner website help page help
  • On the APN Public PCs, if you are writing files to DVD you will need to use CDBurnerXP
  • If you use CDBurnerXP to write/burn files to CD you can not use Windows My Computer to add more files to the same CD unless you reformat the disk first
  • Reformat means wiping the contents of the disk before it can be used to store more data on again.
  • So if you want to keep any of the files on the CD copy those files somewhere else before you format or erase your disk!

Instructions on writing files to disk using CDBurnerXP ...

Save and close the work you wish to burn to My Documents first.

1.    Insert disk into CD/DVD drive.

2.    From the Start Menu click on CDBurnerXP

3.    Select Language - click OK

4.    Select Create Data CD/DVD button.

5.    Select the files you want put on the disk. (They should be in My Documents)

Or you can drag and drop files and/or folders into the bottom window to add to disk.

6.    When you have finished adding the file(s) you want on the disk, click the Burn icon

7.    The disk should eject once it has finished.

Put the disk back in the computer and double check that your files have successfully been copied to the disk.

Can I remove files from my disk?

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING THE ERASE FUNCTION IN CDBurnerXP

- you can wipe the entire contents of your disk by simply clicking on the ERASE button!

Yes, but it requires you to erase the entire content of the Disk. Or if you write (burn) a file with the exact same name as one already on the disk, it will overwrite it.  To erase all data from an “RW” disk click the erase button and select Quick erase or Full erase.

What is the difference between Quick erase and a Full erase?

  • Quick Erase erases the disc’s table of contents, which makes the data on the disc inaccessible. However, it does not actually erase the data. Quick Erase usually takes less than one minute.

  • Full Erase erases all of the data on the disc. Depending on the speed of the drive and the disc type, Full Erase can take 30 minutes or more.
